TAORO was the first Grand Hotel in Spain. Since its opening in 1890 and for more than 100 years, TAORO was the most representative icon of the city: members of european royal families like Duke of Windsor Edward VIII, King Alfonso XIII of Spain, Dukes of Kent and King Albert I of Belgium stopped over at the hotel. The famous novelist Agatha Christie also visited the TAORO in 1927 in her temporary withdrawal looking for a calm and safe place.
The personality of its architecture and its history are the most representative characteristics of TAORO, as it doesn’t takes much to build a hotel, but lot of years to set up a brand history.
+ info about Puerto de la Cruz.
Tenerife still grows year after year as a top tourism destination in Europe. On the island, Puerto de la Cruz is a destination that shines because of its own personality and presumes to be the pioneer on the touristic sector with more than 100 years of activity.
At the moment, it’s also reaping the benefits of an ambitious project of touristic renovation and repositioning called to be a reference in the sector: with 40% of hotel beds renewed or in the process of doing so, and probably the largest investment in public space made in recent years in Spain at a seaside holiday destination.
